The information and documentation unit was established at the ACDEP secretariat to document and publish development experiences and innovations in agriculture, primary health, gender, advocacy and market access for the poor. Thus, the unit is responsible for providing support to the other development programmes at the Secretariat to address their documentation needs.

As a development oriented secretariat, the information unit facilitates access to appropriate, relevant and up-to-date information about development issues to enable field officers, programme officers, managers, and other stakeholders who work with ACDEP, or for ACDEP to make informed choices and decisions to improve their skills and knowledge in rural community development in. The unit also plays a key role in supporting ACDEP and its member NGOs to maximise information and communication tools to enhance their work at the organisational and community level. As part of this role a program ICT4D has been implemented.
