Anglican Women’s Development Centre

The Yelwoko Women’s Development Centre was established by Anglican Nuns from the United Kingdom in 1983 with 15 women who were taught needle work and dressmaking initially. The centre was handed over to the Anglican Church in Ghana in 1990 after the U.K. nuns left. More courses were introduced at the centre including rice processing, groundnut farming, shea butter extraction and malt making.
Objectives: 
To train women to acquire employable skills.
To support women groups to embark on economic activities.
To provide health education on HIV/AIDS and other related health problems.
To make communities aware of their civic rights and responsibilities.
To embark on education programmes to reduce population growth and bad traditional practices.
Partner Activities: 
Provide credit to women for their income generation activities.
Train women in compost making and encourage them to grow economic trees.
Give talks to communities on Family Planning, HIV/AIDS etc.
Train young girls in dressmaking, batik and soap making.
Organize courses on credit management and leadership skills for women.
Provide seed (groundnuts) to women farming groups and also small ruminants (goats).
