The RESULT Project
The Project addresses the four basic elements of food security by increasing food availability, access, utilization and stability (i.e. resilience).
From the 8th to 12th of JulyACDEP traveled to the 5 member organization of ACDEP who are part of the health program. The reason for the visit was to identify challenges and prepare all stakeholders with the upcoming distribution of mobile phones as planned for September 2013. The invited participants varied from peer educators to coordinators, from teachers to clinic staff members, from traditional birth attendances to traditional medical practitioners and their secretaries & from the head of the clinic to chiefs and opinion leaders.
With the mHealth project, ACDEP aims to improve the health status of the rural population of communities in Northern Ghana through an improved and efficient healthcare delivery services. ACDEP aims to achieve this improvement through the use of mobile phones and SMS and voice services by TMPs, TBAs and peer educators. Hundreds of young people celebrated life at the ACDEP World Aids Day in Tamale. The event organized by the Association of Church Based Development NGO’s in Northern Ghana (ACDEP), aimed at creating more awareness on sexual and reproductive health among adolescents.
As part of the event, a SMS quiz on sexual and reproductive health was launched where 1,400 adolescents subscribe and won themselves phones, airtime and t-shirts. The event counted 2.500 visitors and was held at the 30th of November at the Jubilee Park in the center of Tamale.
