JOSEPH NCHOR

Mr. Joseph Nchor is a development practitioner with over 30 years’ experience in sustainable agriculture, agroecology, food security and natural resources management.  He attained his bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) degree in Development Studies from the University for Development Studies (UDS), Ghana.

Motivated by his passion for agriculture and development, Mr. Nchor has worked as a Program Manager on Agriculture and Food security programme for the Association of Church-based Development Projects (ACDEP) in northern Ghana since 2003. He has led several ACDEP projects on food and nutrition security, livelihoods, farmer innovation and climate change adaptation, which have impacted significantly the lives of rural resource-poor men and women in northern Ghana. Mr. Nchor’s strengths span from agriculture, food and nutrition security and livelihoods, smallholder farmer innovations and climate change adaptation, and partnerships.

Mr. Nchor has coordinated the Prolinnova Ghana projects for over 20 years and currently serves as the international project manager for the “Expanding the promotion of Local Innovation for Food Security and healthy nutrition to strengthen resilience with focus on women” project – ELI-FaNS project. The project is being implemented in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa and Mr. Nchor provides technical support for the project implementation in the partner countries.   Through Prolinnova, he has promoted and developed farmer innovations and farmer-led participatory research approaches in agriculture and natural resource management with rural small-scale farmers resulting in enhanced and sustainable rural households’ food and nutrition security. He enjoys swimming, cycling and backyard gardening.
