The Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) approach which ACDEP initiated in 2000 as an extension of its PHC approach to health promotion has become one of the major strategies used for intervention delivery within the ACDEP network.
Supported 10 ACDEP-member PHCs to pilot the program actively working with adolescents.
Identify capacity building needs for PHC staff, adolescents and their coordinators.
72 adolescent reproductive health clubs have been formed in 38 communities
Recruited and train 84 peer educators in-school and out-of-school clubs in 38 communities.
Recruited 33 adolescent reproductive health club coordinators made up of health staff, teachers, and religious instructors.
Trained 25 health staff, 2,884 adolescents, 347 traditional medical practitioners, 6 trainers of trainers (resource team) in adolescent reproductive health.
Supported 4 PHCs to form 4 adolescent health corners
Organised 4 experience sharing workshops for ACDEP-member PHCs and regional level partner consultation workshops.
Supported the PHC programmes to start the process of developing best practices in the integration of adolescent reproductive health and traditional medicine practice.
