Who we are..

Malex Alebikiya has been Executive Director of the ACDEP Secretariat since September 1999.  He holds an MA in  Development Studies, Agriculture & Rural Development from the Institute of Social Studies at the Hague, Netherlands along with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Rural Policy and Planning from the same institution. Prior to working at ACDEP, Malex gained much experience working for a variety of Agricultural stations as well as NGOs both in Ghana and abroad.

James B. Japiong(japiong@acdep.org)  is the head of Finance and Administration. Currently leading finance team of four at the main secretariat in Tamale with  oversight responsibility of the two regional offices in Bolga and Wa. Mr Japiong joined the Acdep team in November 2008. He holds an MA in Human Resource Management from the University of Cape Coast, Postgraduate Diploma in Finance & Investment, Cambridge College, UK and B.Ed (Hons) in Accounting & Mathematics awarded by the University of Cape Coast. Before joining Acdep, Mr Japiong was the Senior Accountant of Olam Ghana Limited in Kumasi.

Joseph Nchor( nchor@acdep.org) heads the Agricultural Programme of ACDEP, providing technical and management support to project  officers managing the three component projects. His current major role is project proposal development and programme development of agricultural, food security and livelihoods projects. He also provides managerial and coordination support to ACDEP’s agricultural value chain programmes namely: ADVANCE, FAMAR, ACDEP-NRGP  and Shea Value Chain-SMILE ). Joe Holds a BSc. in Natural Resources Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and currently pursuing an MPhil in Development Studies at the University for Development Studies (UDS). Joe has rich rural development, environment and sustainable agriculture development experience from his 22 years working career in CUSO, Plantations Development Limited and ACDEP. He is married with three children and loves football.

Cornelius Kuukaraa (ckuukaraa@acdep.org)  joined from  MOFA in 2006 as programme officer on the FAMAR project. He holds a BSc degree in agriculture with major in agricultural economics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He also holds a master’s degree in Development studies with major in gender and agriculture from Larestein University, the Netherlands.

Esenam Kavi (esenam@acdep.org) who is currently the Team Leader of the Health Unit joined ACDEP in January 2008 as a project officer. She is responsible for the development, Implementation and Management of the health sector programme. She holds a BSc in Nutrition from the University for Development Studies and currently pursuing an MSc in Development Management at the University of London.

Modesta Azumah Asooh (modesta@acdep.org) holds an MBA (Financial Option) from the University of Cape Coast. She has experience in Grants / Financial management & Credit management. In June 2011, Modesta joined ACDEP as Manager for ACDEP Financial Services (AFS). She previously worked for World Vision Int – Ghana Rural Water project as the  Grant Accountant. Modesta is married and has three kids.

Michael Pervarah (mcpervareh@acdep.org)is the Team Leader for the ADVANCE Programme being implemented by ACDEP in the 3 Northern Regions. He provides leadership and coordinates the activities of the team to aid the implementation of the project. Before his appointment, Michael worked as a Graduate Assistant at the Institute of African Studies, Legon and a Coordinator of the Trent-In-Ghana program, University of Ghana, Legon. Married with a son and a daughter, Michael possesses a B.A (Hons) in Sociology and History from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi and an MPhil African Studies (focus on Gender and Development) from the University of Ghana, Legon.

Norbert Apentibadek (norbert@acdep.org) joined ACDEP in June 2001 as Programme Officer responsible for documentation and dissemination of development experiences and innovations. In 2003, he was assigned with additional responsibility as the desk officer for ACDEP’s monitoring and evaluation capacity building programme. He also had oversight responsibility for ACDEP’s gender capacity building programme. In 2004, the M&E and the gender capacity building programmes were delinked from the documentation and publication unit. Currently, the documentation & publication unit in addition to its traditional role runs a project in ICT4D in agriculture & health. Norbert holds a BA in English & Religions with a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
