Description: 
The Presbyterian Primary Health Care (PPHC) formally known as the Rural Health Services, started around 1967 through mobile outreach health programmes to rural deprived communities of the then Bawku District. The PPHC provide a wide range of primary health care services through health centres located in Garu, Woriyanga and Widana and a Clinic at Sumaduri community. These facilities render 24 hour services to their clients. The services rendered are curative, preventive and promotive in nature. Specific services rendered include: General OPD care, basic diagnostic tests, basic eye care, family planning services, antenatal care, delivery services, postnatal and newborn care, dispensing of drugs, child welfare services, health education and promotion etc. These services are rendered at the static as well as at outreach points in communities. In addition, it implements community-based programmes in adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Rights project funded by Simavi, a Netherlands organization in three health sub-districts notably Garu and Woriyanga in the Garu-Tempane District and Widana in the Pusiga District of the Upper East Region of Ghana. It also runs a Community Health Watch project being funded by Strengthening Transparency, Accountability and Responsiveness (STAR-Ghana) only in the Garu-Tempane District.

To provide Christian-centred, humane and sustainable basic health services, encompassing, preventive, promotive, and curative care through community participation and in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and other stakeholders.

Recent Accomplishments: 
Implementation sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR) project with funding from Simavi, a Netherlands organization
Implementation of a PHS-N Health Watch Project funded by STAR-Ghana
Communities are getting actively involved in health activities and are becoming aware of their responsibilities
Expansion of health infrastructure at Garu, Widana and Sumaduri clinic with funds from IGF

ACDEP: C4C – Mobile phones for Peer educators, Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs), Traditional Medicine Practitioners (TMPs), Tricycle ambulance/delivery kits for promoting maternal health, computers, etc
Ghana Health Service (GHS) – Provision of staff for preventive services (e.g. Community Health Nurses, Disease Control Officers and Health Information Officers, etc), logistics and equipment.
Ministry of Health (MOH) – Policies for service delivery and payment of salaries of majority of staff, training of staff.
